Ant Control

antChances are that you have had to deal with ants invading your home at one time or another. It is one of the most common calls that we get in the Triangle area. One of the difficulties in dealing with ants is that their colonies are so large and until you kill the queen, the ants in the colony will keep coming back. The baits that you can buy at the store are only effective for a short time and then the ants come back. If you are tired of dealing with ants, you should contact the experts at EcoTek.

Our technicians can perform a free ant inspection and identify the types of ants that you have on your property or in your home. Carpenter ants will build their homes in your walls and do damage similar to termites. Fire ants tend to stay outside but can bite you or your pets. Household ants will build their colonies outside and send works in looking for food. Each type of ant needs a different treatment. Our ant control technician can come up with an ant extermination treatment plan for your specific needs. Contact EcoTek today for a free estimate that will prove how affordable it is for EcoTek to completely remove the ants from your home.

cockroachCockroaches are often associated with dirt and filth, but cockroaches can wander into your home or catch a ride inside of boxes or packages. Once in your home, they can quickly establish an infestation as they look for food and water. There are three types of roaches that are common in the area. German cockroaches do not survive outside of a home for long. You can find them in the kitchen. Oriental roaches are black and they like water, so you can find them around leaky pipes or plumbing or even in sewers. American cockroaches can grow more than inch in length. They tend to spend most of the time outside but may come in as it gets colder or after a rain storm.

Cockroaches can be an issue because they carry bacteria and can spread illnesses as they crawl through your food and over your dishes. Signs of cockroaches include seeing egg casings, droppings, and the roaches themselves. Bad infestations may also have a strong odor. Frequently Asked Questions

Will the treatments adversely affect my pets?

We ask that you remove your pets from your property during a treatment and for four hours after the treatment is complete. This will keep them safe because they are naturally attracted to the treatments when they are wet.

    Do you offer organic treatments?

We offer both organic and conventional treatment options for the majority of our pest control services. The termite treatment is only available as a conventional option, but we do offer chemical free monitoring options.

Do I need to be home for every treatment?

As long as you make arrangements so that the technician can access your property, you do not need to be home during a treatment. The technician will leave a card stating the date, time and type of treatment that was completed.

How long will each appointment take?

Most appointments will take about twenty minutes. However, if you have a larger home or a home serious infestation the treatments may take longer. Bed bug treatments take about an hour for each room in the home.

Do I have to prepare for treatments?

Some treatments do require you to do some basic preparation. You will receive a complete list when you schedule the appointment, but examples including washing your bedding in hot water and drying on high heat with bed bugs and vacuuming before a termite treatment.

Do termites and carpenter ants cause different types of damage?

The damage that the two insects cause are very similar to each other. While termites actually eat the wood, carpenter ants will chew it up so that they can build nests inside of it. Both of these result in the wood being weakened and will need to be repaired.

How can I tell that I have fleas?

You may first notice fleas if you have bites around your ankles. You may also notice that your pets seem miserable or that they are scratching more frequently. If you examine them you may find fleas in their fur. If your pets have fleas, you will need to treat your home.

Are the traps you use for wildlife safe?

At EcoTek, we pride ourselves on only using humane traps that will not harm the animal in anyway. We also check the traps frequently to make sure the animal does not suffer from dehydration or starvation.
