Pest Control Durham
EcoTek originally opened for business in 2011 in Durham, NC, home to Duke University, the Durham Bulls, and a population of well over 542,710 people. Known as “the Bull City”, Durham originally got its name from Dr. Bartlett Snipe Durham who owned much of the property within the area which is now downtown Durham (10-facts-about.com). Durham is an up and coming area and is home to several excellent restaurants. The nightlife and friendly vibe has made Durham a favorite gathering spot for many people.
Just like most of the area within the Piedmont of North Carolina, Durham is covered with forests of oaks, holly, and maple trees, and has a climate that is very humid. Both of these factors contribute to not only a wide variety of insects that can be pests to the businesses and homes within Durham, but there are also wildlife that make Durham their home that also are known to choose homes and company structures to make their personal habitat. Durham homeowners and business owners know that when it comes to insect extermination or wildlife and rodent removal, there is no substitute for the experts at EcoTek.

Ant Control
Ant problems are quite common for most Durham homeowners, which is why you will need to act fast if they invade your home. Ant colonies can spread to cabinets, and various places that have a lot of moisture. Also, because of Durham’s local ecosystem, various species of ants have little trouble making new nests all over the community. They can spring up in backyards, empty lots, garages and various other places. Rover ants, carpenter ants, fire ants pavement ants and odorous house ants, for example, can breed rapidly in most places. Carpenter ants can cause damage similar to termites.
Unfortunately, most homeowners cannot solve their ant problems on their own, nor should they even try. Ant nests are very hard to find, and even if you know where to find them, removing them without damaging your property can be very difficult. If you want to safely remove the ants from your home without risking your family or your pet’s safety, it is best to contact a professional. Call our ant exterminators today for a free ant inspection and free estimate.
Termite Control
Most homes are attacked by termites sooner or later. Stained dry walls, mud tubes, small openings on wooden walls and squeaky wooden floor boards are all signs that there are termites in your property. If you notice these signs in your home, don’t panic. Most termite breeds in Durham are not as dangerous as those found in other parts of the world, however you will still need to act fast in order to prevent additional damage to your property. In most cases, by the time people discover they have termites, they have already spread through most parts of their home.
Anti-termite products and chemicals can help stop their progress, but such products cannot offer a permanent solution. In order to eliminate the termite infestation, the queen as well as the entire nest need to be eliminated. If you’re not sure whether or not you have termites, the absolute best way to find out if you do is to call the termite exterminators at EcoTek for an absolutely free termite inspection that will also include a free estimate of what you will be charged to remove the termites and repair termite damage. Bed Bug Control
Bed bugs breed rapidly and they can breed in places other than your bed sheets or mattresses. In fact, bed bugs can breed several generations in just one year, after which they will begin spreading to your other furniture such as chairs and sofas. Although bed bugs are not lethal to humans, they can make your bedroom very uncomfortable. Most people unknowingly bring them home after a vacation or even a trip to the gym.
The good news is that most varieties of bed bugs can be eliminated using a combination of chemicals. The only problem is that unless all the eggs are eliminated, the next generation will be born to start the problem all over again. It’s important to remember that bed bugs can thrive in places other than your bed, so even if you were to thoroughly clean your sheets and mattresses, there’s no guarantee that the bed bugs are gone permanently, unless they are eliminated throughout your home. EcoTek offers a bed bug control treatment that uses a chemical solution to effectively eliminate bed bugs and their eggs. Call our bed bug control professionals today for a free bed bug inspection and free estimate.
Cockroach Control
Cockroaches can breed very quickly, and their nests are very hard to find. They usually leave their eggs and droppings in the kitchen, where they can find the most food, but they can also thrive in other areas of your home, including your attic and basement. Larger species of cockroaches can even grow as large as one and half inches long, and these can infest sinks, tubs and laundry rooms. They can also spread to areas that have very little foot traffic, such as closets, basements and even under the stairs.
If your home seems to have a cockroach problem then you will need to act fast before the situation becomes unmanageable. although there a number of options available in the store, the most effective method of eliminating cockroaches safely is by using a professional. Our cockroach exterminators know just how to eliminate any kind of roach infestation, and can also help clean up the waste materials they leave behind. Call the EcoTek cockroach control experts today for a free of charge cockroach inspection and free estimate.
Flea and Tick Control
Fleas and ticks can thrive anywhere, even in places that don’t have a lot of animals. These pests can thrive in back yards, and even other areas of your home. To make matters worse, they can even spread diseases, like Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Lyme Disease. Not only can these pests spread at a rapid rate on your animals, but they may also lay eggs in certain areas of your home. Also, if your neighborhood is home to a large number of animals then the problem could get very bad very quickly, because fleas and ticks will start reproducing at a much faster rate as they expand from one animal to another.
Although you may try flea powder or other control methods, you may be struggling to get ahead of the problem. You will need to do more than just treat your pet. At even the first indication of any flea or tick infestation, it is highly recommended that you contact the flea and tick control experts at EcoTek for a free flea and tick inspection and free estimate. In addition to treating in your home for fleas, we can treat your yard to prevent your animals from picking them up while outside.
Rodent Control
From small, harmless mice to large, disease-ridden rats, rodents are a serious problem to many Durham residents. Rodents can cause property damage by chewing wiring, digging through plaster walls, creating nests and more. Not only are they a nuisance, but they can also spread salmonella, Hantavirus as well as several other diseases that are fatal to humans. Rat and mouse removal, however, can be very difficult and costly. For starters, most rodents reach sexual maturity within two months, and the average female reproduces up to 8 times in their entire life. Another problem is that rodents can produce four to seven pups per litter, which basically means that a pair of rats can turn into at least a dozen under a year. It’s also worth mentioning that rodent control can be quite dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing. Remember that rats and other similar pests have rabies and carry viruses. Therefore, ridding your home of rats and mice requires special tools and equipment to ensure that the whole process is safe. There’s also the issue that there may be more than one pest in your home, so catching only one of them won’t solve the problem. The entire batch needs to be eliminated.
The exterminators at EcoTek are rodent control experts at not only getting rid of rodents such as rats, mice and squirrels that can easily make your home their own habitat, but they have a turnkey solution that can also give assistance with the decontamination process of clearing up the nesting, feces, hair and blood they leave behind after they’ve been taken out. Once your house or company has been cleaned out from all traces with the infestation, EcoTek will start with the fixes for the damage they’ve caused, and finally create exclusion barriers to prevent them from coming back. Getting a free estimate and a free in-home consultation is only a call away, so contact EcoTek today and ask about our turnkey rodent extermination program!
Wildlife Removal
Wild animals can inflict severe damages to any property, which is why they need to be removed quickly. Squirrels, bats, raccoons, woodchucks, rabbits and even small predatory creatures can turn your attic or basement into their own personal nests, and removing them on your own can be quite dangerous. Because of the dangerous nature of wild animals, wildlife removal is more than just simple removal. Sometimes, it can involve the removal of animal carcasses, repairing property damages, erecting obstacles and more. So there are plenty of different types of animals to deal with, and that requires experience and training.
The EcoTek wildlife control team are experts at trapping and getting rid of just about any type of wild animal that has invaded your premises, and besides taking away live animals, we can also remove dead carcasses as well. Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have an organic treatment option?
At EcoTek, we offer an effective organic pest control option. We also offer a strong and safe conventional option for pest control. You can discuss with the technician the option that is best for your situation. Both methods will stop pests from entering your home.
Do I need to be home during a visit?
No, you do not need to be home. You will need to give us access to your home. Many of our preventative treatments are applied around the exterior of your home. If a treatment will be inside of you will need to make sure that your pets are not at home during the treatment.
How long will each treatment take?
The length of the treatment is dependent on your home size. Most treatments take about twenty minutes, but they may take longer if you have a large home or property. Our technician can give you the correct time after the initial inspection.
How can I tell the difference between termites and carpenter ants?
Termites and carpenter ants can both cause structural damage to your home. Termites tend to have wider waists and two sets of wings that are the same size and just a bit longer than the body. Carpenter ants have narrow waists and look like household ants only larger.
Are bed bugs resistant to chemical treatments?
Bed bugs have grown more resistant to some chemical treatments. However, the treatments that we use are still effective at eliminating the bed bugs while being safe for your family. A bed bug treatment will take longer than a treatment for other types of pests.
Do you offer pest control plans?
We do offer three different pest control plans. We offer a green option, a standard plan and a plan that includes termite control. Each of the options include quarterly inspections and regular treatment. If you see a pest in between appointments, the resprays are included.
Do you offer same-day service?
In most cases, we can visit you the same day that you call. If we cannot that day, we will send someone out the next day. You can also schedule an appointment further in advance if that works well for you. Contact EcoTek today to stop worrying about pests.
How often will you check the traps when doing wildlife control?
We will check the traps either daily or every other day. Once we trap the animal, we will take it twenty-five miles away from your home before we release it in the wild. This will prevent it from returning to your home. We will also install exclusion barriers to prevent new animals from getting in.
Same or Next Day Service
Call us before noon Monday to Friday, and we’ll treat your yard the same day!
100% Money Back Satisfaction Guarantee
If you’re unsatisfied with the treatment in any way, we have a 100% money back guarantee. So there is no risk to you!
