Ant Control

antAnts are tiny and annoying pests. When they invade homes they make trails from their colonies directly into your kitchen cabinets and into damp areas. When they aren’t eating your food stores then they are boring holes into your home’s woodwork in order to create access routes. They leave pheromone trails along these routes to help them get back to their colonies.

To eliminate ants you have to get the entire colony. Killing one or two won’t help because they will be replaced almost immediately. The most common types of ants that you would have to deal within Chapel Hill include Carpenter Ants, Fire Ants and Odorous House Ants. Each type of ant behaves differently therefore you must identify the type of ant that you are dealing with before you can make a plan for eliminating them. Carpenter Ants, for example, like to nest in damp and decayed wood however they will expand into undamaged wood if left unchecked. Call our ant control experts today for a free ant inspection and free estimate.

Termite Control

termite mud tubesTermites behave in a similar manner to ants. They build their nests underground or in wood and their presence compromises the structural integrity of wooden structures. Termites may not go after your food stores however they do more damage to your home and grounds than ants do. Mud tubes that termites use to get around are a dead giveaway of a termite infestation in your home. Other ways to identify termite infestations are looking out for small holes in your walls and knocking on floorboards to see if they sound hollow.

The best time to call in an expert and check if you have termites is in spring because this is when the colonies send out winged termites called swarmers to colonize other areas. If you find swarmers flying around or gathering outside your house then you probably already have a termite infestation. You will find many other indications that can reveal you have termites, however the best way to find out whether or not you have termites is to call the termite control experts at EcoTek for a free of charge termite inspection that will also include a free estimate of how much it costs to get rid of the termites and repair termite damage they have caused. Bed Bug Control

bed bugsBed bugs are tiny mites that live in couches and mattresses. They are parasitic insects which bite people and feed on blood. Bed bug infestations are difficult to find because they are so tiny and they have special enzymes in their saliva which stops you from feeling their bites. Bed bug bites are unique because you will spot several small bites in a straight line. You may also notice stains on your sheets and dark droppings in your bedding.

People usually believe that bed bugs infestations are the result of poor hygiene but this is not always the case. They usually infest your home when you pick one or two up from a public place then bring them back with you. Bedbugs are especially difficult to eliminate because they hide well, reproduce quickly and spawn eggs which are resistant to most forms of pest control. EcoTek offers bed bug extermination treatments that uses a chemical solution. Call our bed bug control experts today for a free bed bug inspection and free estimate.

Cockroach Control

cockroachCockroaches are among the most despised pests of all. They make their homes in your food stores and crawl all over your kitchen utensils spreading germs and dropping eggs wherever they go. Some of them can grow to more than an inch long and fly which means that they have access to just about every part of your home. Cockroaches are usually introduced into homes by coming in on shopping bags or just wandering in from outside. Once they get inside and find that they like the environment then they start breeding.

Any cockroach infestation should be dealt with before they start breeding because they are known to produce thousands of offspring every year. One or two cockroaches are easy to deal with but the task becomes difficult once they start to increase their numbers. Restricting their access to food is the best way to keep them away but if they are already getting comfortable in your home then you’ll want a professional to help you eliminate them. Our cockroach control experts know exactly how to kill any kind of cockroach infestation, and can also help tidy up the waste material they leave behind. Call the EcoTek roach control team today for a free roach inspection and free estimate.

Flea and Tick Control Control

tickFleas and ticks prefer to live on animals with thick coats of fur however they will attach themselves to humans in some situations. Flea infestations are easy to identify because they make you scratch whenever they bite you and are more of an annoyance than anything else, however ticks are a serious health hazard because they spread Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Lyme disease. Cats and dogs are the usual suspects when fleas and ticks make their way into your home however children and adults can bring them in from outside just as easily.

Ticks get on people by using a process called questing. They crawl up to the highest point in tall grass then wait for a dog or a person to brush up on them which is when they latch on and start to feed. Fleas spread when one flea-infested animal comes into contact with an animal that wasn’t infested. At even the first indication of a flea or tick infestation, it is recommended that you call the flea and tick control team at EcoTek for a free flea and tick inspection and free estimate, and if you call before noon you can even eliminate the fleas and ticks the same day.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What types of treatment do you offer?

At EcoTek, we offer both conventional and organic treatment options. Both are very effective at eliminating pests in and around our home. They are also both safe for you and your family. Termite treatment is only available in the conventional method, but we do offer chemical free bait stations to monitor or termites.

How long does a typical treatment take?

Most treatments will take about twenty minutes. Your initial appointment may be about thirty minutes since it will also involve an inspection of the home. If your home is larger, it may take longer for the treatment. Our technician can tell you the time after the initial inspection.

I have pets. Will they be safe during the treatment?

We ask that all pets be removed from the home during the treatment and for at least four hours after the treatment. Animals are attracted to the pesticide right after the treatment. However, it is safe after the four hours are completed and the treatment is completely dry.

Do you offer a pest control service package?

We offer three options. Each of the services include pest and rodent control. They all come with quarterly inspections. One of the packages also includes termite control. Signing up for this service means that you will never have to worry about pests again. If you do see a pest, simply call and we will respray.

Is the treatment safe for my family?

Both our conventional and organic options are safe for your family. We use the safest products on the market and they are safer than the products that you may find at the store. Our technicians are trained in the safest way to apply the treatments.

How can I avoid getting cockroaches?

Cockroaches are in search of food and water. Make sure you repair any leaks in your home to help reduce the water that they can find. Keeping things as clean and possible and free of clutter can also help you avoid getting roaches. If they do not find food or water they will not stay.

What are signs of fire ants?

Fire ants will build extensive tunnels and large mounds that you may find around your yard. Another definite sign is seeing the fire ants or being bitten by a fire ant. It can be difficult to treat fire ants on your own because of their extensive tunneling system. At EcoTek our technicians are trained to eliminate the entire colony so you can feel safe in your yard again.

What are signs of wildlife in my home?

One of the first signs is the sounds of scratching in your walls or ceiling. The sounds may be more noticeable at night. Check your attic and crawl spaces for signs of a nest or droppings. You can also check outside your home to look for the entry point to your home.
